Nashville NightWatch @ Raleigh Flyers

Where They Stand: Nashville (1-9, 7th in South); Raleigh (7-3, 2nd in South)

Where To Watch: There is not, as of this writing, an official streaming option for this game. The Nashville NightWatch twitter feed, however, does an adequate job of keeping the information coming. Check it out here.

Last Matchup: Raleigh came to town for the home opener and held on to an early lead to win the game 20-18. Raleigh sits firmly in 2nd in the South, 3 games up in the loss column on 3 rd place Atlanta, but they have yet to secure the coveted wild card spot.

Key Players:

Michael Volz burst onto the AUDL scene two weeks ago, scoring 7 goals in his NightWatch debut. Between him and Jake Wright, the NightWatch have a tandem that can find the endzone. The major question remains: can they get it there? Nashville has really missed middle man Ray Davenport over its last several games. Will he make the trip and help guide Nashville’s sputtering offense?

For Raleigh, Justin Allen is a name that invokes many groans and eye-rolls. From a spectator’s perspective, he appears to be rather enamored with his ability—evidenced by his two-toned cleats that he wears to games. But, where there is confidence, there is also ability. Allen leads the Flyers in both goals (34) and assists (35). He was able to shred Nashville’s defense way back on April 23 rd , and he’ll look to do so again on Sunday.

Key Matchups:

Nashville has a defense that has been porous of late, yet which held Raleigh to its 2 nd lowest point total of the season (20) during their last matchup. In fact, Raleigh’s highly touted offense has been somewhat mellow this year, with the Flyers failing to top 30 points in a game all season. The important part of the Flyers’ game has been defense, though and with Nashville being unable to top 25 points all year, look for the NightWatch’s offense to be an indicator of how this game goes. Should the NightWatch find holes in Raleigh’s D, Nashville has a good chance to play spoiler and get the upset in Raleigh.
