Final Score: Nightwatch 16, Hustle 26
What It Means: Atlanta now 1-0 with an important win at home without star Matt Smith. Nashville start 0-1 in the South Division and look to regroup during their bye week.
Starwatch: 3 Stars to Nashville’s #15 Ray Davenport: 3 G/ 2 A/ 0 D, 4 +/- | 2 Stars to Atlanta’s #10 Allan Laviolette 1 G/ 1 A/ 3 D, 3 +/- | 1 Star to Nashville’s #55 Tom Radcliffe: 0 G/ 4 A/ 1 D, 2 +/-
Why It Happened: The NightWatch had their opponent on the ropes early on until with 5:59 the third quarter the tempo of Nashville’s offense changed. Atlanta tied the game up 12 all off of a Callahan score made by #81 JP Burns and switched the momentum completely. From that point on Atlanta’s offense finally found their rhythm while Nashville lost theirs.
Injury Report: Due to unknown reasons Atlanta’s star cutter #8 Matt Smith was inactive, whether it is an injury or prior engagement. One of Nashville’s young studs cutter #22 Paul Lally was a game time decision to sit out tonight due to an ankle injury. Lally is week-to-week as of now but the bye week should give him much needed rest.
Key Number: 5, after opening up the game with three consecutive breaks (scoring on defensive point) the NightWatch managed to only score five times in the second half while Atlanta scored 16.
Watch’s Up Next: Bye Week; after the team readjusts during their week off of weighing the positives and negatives of tonight’s outcome the following week gets tougher. NightWatch will travel to Jacksonville to play the Canons (4/16) in their first game of the season then back to Atlanta (4/17) for an early season rematch.
